WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR CHILD

• Always be encouraging – This is something that is not freely given to children in Ugandan culture and is something every child craves. The words you send today will keep them motivated for a lifetime. (Sharing scripture is a great way to always point your child back to the source of life and strength, Jesus Christ)
• Share about your life – You can share as little or as much as you would like to with your child. Remember that they are as interested in you as you are in them. Please refrain from talking about the cost of things or how much you may have. They do not understand the cost of things but we want to reinforce the value of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and with you as their sponsor and not in material things.
• Ask a lot of questions – Try to always ask questions in your letters. This shows them that you are interested in their life but it also helps them reply. Many children have never written a letter and don’t know where to start and answering questions will greatly help them.
• JUST WRITE – You will never fully understand the value of a child receiving a letter from their sponsor. Regardless of how short or how long your letter is…..just write. It will be valued no matter what you have to say.
